Music with a Capital M is a production
and publishing company principally representing the music of composer
Ian David Moss and of Capital
M, the electric chamber ensemble/experimental rock
band that he founded in 2004.
What is Music with a Capital M?
The term "Music with a Capital M" comes from a lecture
that Moss attended in college in which the speaker called into
question the traditional ivory-tower conceit of talking about
"music" in the 20th century as if non-classical forms
such as rock and jazz never happened. The artists associated with
Music with a Capital M view these seemingly separate strands of
music history as one continuous thread, entertwined. It is a rich
legacy offering endless possibilities for synthesis across genres,
periods, and cultures. In short, it is all Music.
